royals
It's about to happen. Little Things will be back at the Guardino Gallery November 28th to December 28th. Yay! I love this group show, where purchased art can be taken home straight off the wall. Pieces are all 7" and under, made by dozens of different artists. I made a small army of Royals of many different species. Opening reception on November 28th 6-9pm.
natural wonders
My root ghosts will be part of the Siren Nation Art Show this week. It's a group show of Pacific NW women artists and this year's theme is Natural Wonders. Wonderful! The show opens Thursday November 6th at Albina Press on Hawthorne, former location of mine and Sarah Hall's River Without End. Opening reception 6pm to 8pm. Here is also the facebook link .
crusties
And so the holiday season begins.
art carts
Yesterday the first annual Art Carts happened in SE Portland. Who says carts are just for food? There were lots of cute trailers full of art, live music and blue skies. I am sure this was the start of many more to come. I set up shop with the folks from PDX Magazine , who, lacking their own trailer, had borrowed a small covered wagon from the Oregon Trail Museum . I was glad I brought my polka-dotted umbrella because it was hot hot hot.
hot
It's hot hot hot. Have some ice cream.
pedaloctopus
From a recent show at Good Gallery. The theme was octopi and of course I couldn't resist the call of the tentacle! Decided to use one of the designs from my Pedalpalooza poster and learned that bikes have a lot of parts to sculpt.
Crooked River
I just got back from setting up my Crooked River in Mountain View California. It can be visited at the Mohr Gallery until July 27th. Cassidy and Stella are having a close look at the critters and I'm posing with Raquel's animation students. I wonder where this river will flow next. Let me know if your state needs a new river!
Herman
Herman would like to meet you at Guardino Gallery next Thursday.
June is the month of Gesine
This is why I've been hiding in the basement all year: there are two big shows opening this month and I worked and worked and worked. The first one, Crooked River, is the rebirth of our Portland show River Without End from last October, this time solo without Sarah Hall. I am going to install a new river on the walls of the Mohr Gallery in Mountain View California and bring a car full of critters with me that will reside on the banks of that river for a while. Here's the what: Mohr Gallery, Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA), Finn Center, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View, CA Friday, June 13, 2014 through Sunday, July 27, 2014 Opening reception is Friday, June 13 from 6pm – 8pm.
The second show will be at Guardino Gallery in Portland, opening on the last Thursday in June. It has all new work, including my recent adventures in clay. It's been great working in a new medium and the results are a bunch of larger than usual animals that will all look at you irresistibly with their googly eyes. Details for that show:
Guardino Gallery, 2939 NE Alberta, Portland, OR Thursday, June 26, 2014 through Sunday, July 27, 2014 Opening reception is Thursday, June 26 from 6pm – 9pm.
And then, when everything is up on the walls, I will be free to interact with humans again! Won't that be nice? Buy me a beer.
pedalpalooza
Pedalpalooza, Portland's annual bike mayhem, is about to start. And guess who designed this years poster? Me, that's who.

Must be springtime!
wild ride
Our pal Jon David had a massive heart attack last year and we're having an art show to raise some funds to help him with his bills. This Wild Ride is my contribution (JD loves cars).
The opening will be at The Peculiarium - 2234 NW Thurman. Saturday, Feb. 15 from 6-9pm. There will be food, drinks, anatomical heart-shaped cookies for sale, and music from Martinibomb in addition to all the great art. The Peculiarium is a really fun place where you can see everything from a 10 foot tall Bigfoot to an alien autopsy!
There's a great list of artists, mostly from Portland's animation community, that are contributing some fantastic art.

ox and rat
When an ox and a rat love each other very much… you get this sculpture! A recent commission based on the chinese zodiac animals.
