I am overjoyed to have moved into my brand new backyard studio. It is absolutely gorgeous with a clay studio downstairs and painting, sewing, office, shipping and everything else upstairs. I even have a balcony! And of course I painted it in the most vibrant colors. This is a life long dream come true and I couldn’t be happier!
Coming up very soon! I will have a shelf in the group booth this year. I’m still working my way towards having a full booth, if this year goes well. I am thrilled however, that my work was used in several of the advertising images.
Holiday Cheer at the Salty Teacup
I love St Johns! In the summer I participated in the St Johns Art Walk and had a splendid time. So I jumped on the opportunity to sell at the Salty Teacup again in December. The Salty Teacup is a charming boutique in downtown St Johns and they are doing different themed holiday artist markets in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The one I am participating in is called Holiday Cheer and I'm planning to bring some new work and old favorites, good and bad mushrooms among them.

Today I took some artwork to the Governor’s Mansion in Salem. Together with five other artists from the Oregon Potters Association we had coffee and pastries with the First Gentleman and learnt a little about what it is like to be the husband of the governor of Oregon. We’re lending our pieces for a whole year (not knowing who will be living there next). My „All Together Now“ found a great place among the orchids. Thanks @anshulatayal for making it happen and also for the nice photo.
Last year was a blast, so I am doing it again. My home will be open to the public the following two weekends, October 8-9 and 15-16 from 10am to 5pm. My only regret is that I can’t go around town visiting all the other artists. There are many to discover! Use the guides on the PDXOS website to plan your tour. Please come and visit if you can!
Artists from the Oregon Potters Association are bringing their work to Salem. We will exhibit our work at the Oregon Governor’s Mansion for a whole year, starting in October. I am not sure what it takes to get invited for tea at the Governor’s, but I am excited to attend the opening and meet the First Gentleman on October 6th. The theme of the show is “Wonderland” and I am bringing the whimsy with Safe Ride below and 5 other pieces.
The St Johns art walk was a lovely affair with lots of people and dogs strolling by. Many of them stopped to shop. I was set up in front of the Salty Teacup, a charming boutique with lots of handmade goodies.
My new Bobblers are on display at the Toy themed group show at Guardino Gallery this month. Silly guys!
When you own a kiln you get ideas like: “Hey, I could make my own kitchen tile.” Should you? I don’t know. It took a long long time, was very very hard and at times frustrating as hell. But the end result is quite beautiful!
My show at Guardino is up for a few more days until May 21st. The foxes on boxes are some of my personal favorites.
My 3D scanning obsession continues. Since I got a new phone, these scans of my sculptures are getting more and more impressive. This guy for instance is at my art show at Guardino Gallery at the moment.
I dropped off a few new kitties at Giftykittie. Love that place!
The Oregon Potters Association holds their annual showcase every spring. After a Covid hiatus they are back in person! I only just joined the association and will dip my toes in by contributing a few pieces to the Showcase Gallery.

This one is a big deal with about 100 new sculptures from me. I will be sharing the feature area at the gallery with the wonderful painter Jennifer Mercede. Please come to the opening if you can! It should be fun. Over the last couple of years I have been diving headlong into clay and for this show I have created some of my largest pieces yet! 'All Together Now' is pictured below.

My shop will be on strike April 11th to 18th because of a recently scheduled fee hike. Here is why we have decided to strike:
I have been a seller on Etsy since 2010 and for many years I really loved being a part of it. In the last several years however Etsy has been squeezing more and more profits from their sellers. They have increased fees, implemented bogus ‘advertising fees’ and more. The latest announcement of a 30% !!!! fee increase was made shortly after Etsy posted record earnings. How does that make any sense other than pure corporate greed? To know more about our grievances please visit our online petition which you can also sign at https://www.coworker.org/petitions/cancel-the-fee-increase-work-with-sellers-not-against-us
Thanks for your support of artists!
Gifty Kitty: this gem of a store just opened its' doors at 3719 N Mississippi Ave in Portland, OR. A whole store filled with just cat themed gifts, a lot of it art by local makers, beautifully curated! I visited today to check it out and it is just gorgeous! There are quite a few of my pieces scattered throughout the store. Purrrrr!
Alle Jahre wieder… The Little Things show at Guardino Gallery is an annual favorite. Look for hair people, amphibians and Ruth Bader Ginsbells from me this year! New: the gallery now sells online too! So don’t be sad if you are not in Portland to visit in person.
